Immortality Projects

What Is Your Purpose?
Ernest Becker spoke about the idea of an “immortality project” something bigger than ourselves that gives our lives meaning and allows a part of what we create to continue beyond our own lifetime.
I genuinely believe having a purpose that is bigger than yourself can be one of the most powerful things a person can have.
When you have something meaningful to work towards, it can change the way you see your life. It gives you a reason to keep moving forward, to learn, to grow, and ultimately to help other people along the way.
For me, part of my purpose is to leave something behind that actually helps people.
That's a huge part of the reason I'm building Escape the Matrix. I don't just want this to be another website or another community that exists for a few years and disappears. I want to build something people can continue to use, learn from, grow through and contribute to somewhere people can connect, discover new opportunities, challenge themselves and become the best version of themselves.
But there's another part of my purpose that goes beyond Escape the Matrix.
One of the things I want to work towards is eventually getting out to the Amazon jungle, working alongside people who are protecting it, learning more about what's happening on the ground, and doing whatever I can to contribute towards protecting the rainforest, supporting the people caring for it, and helping bring attention to the destruction caused by logging and other threats.
I don't expect to change the world on my own.
But maybe that's the point.
Purpose doesn't necessarily have to mean changing the entire world. Sometimes it's simply about finding something worth dedicating your life to, something that makes your existence useful to somebody other than yourself.
So I'm interested to know:
What is YOUR purpose?
What is the thing that gets you out of bed?
What are you trying to build, create, protect, change or leave behind?
Maybe it's your family. Maybe it's helping other people. Maybe it's creating something. Maybe it's travelling, learning, spirituality, protecting nature, building a business, becoming the strongest version of yourself or something completely different.
There doesn't need to be a right answer.
Share your purpose below.
You never know who might read it and realise that they haven't found theirs yet or who might be inspired to start looking for it.
Escape the Matrix isn't just about escaping what society tells us we should be. It's about discovering what we actually want our lives to stand for.
